Dr Lukasz Polanski

Dr Lukasz Polanski is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and a Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, with more than 14 years of clinical experience.

Dr Polanski completed his reproductive medicine subspecialty training at Guy’s Hospital in London and has completed most of his training at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. He also provides fertility consultations at Bourn Hall Stamford fertility clinic. Dr Polanski is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and serves as the Honorary Secretary of the British Society for Gynaecological Imaging (BSGI).

His clinical interests and expertise encompass:

  • Reproductive medicine and subfertility
  • Recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Gynaecological endocrinology including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and premature ovarian failure
  • Adolescent gynaecology
  • Pelvic pain including endometriosis
  • Uterine anomalies
  • Fibroid management- medical and surgical
  • Minimal invasive and hysteroscopic surgery

He is also an expert in early pregnancy and fertility scanning, including 3D imaging and HyCoSy procedures. Alongside his clinical work, he holds a PhD focused on predictors of success in IVF and has published widely on fertility imaging. He is passionate about education and has established training courses to improve the practice of scanning in gynaecology.

In his clinical practice, Dr Polanski is committed to delivering highly personalised, patient-centred care. He ensures that every consultation allows dedicated time to listen carefully to each patient’s concerns, experiences, and priorities. This approach enables him to develop tailored, jointly agreed treatment plans that reflect both clinical best practice and each patient’s individual needs and preferences. For his care of patients experiencing pregnancy loss, in March 2025, he has been awarded the Special Recognition Award in the category ‘OBGYN of The Year’ by Mariposa International and The Saying Goodbye Foundation.

He places strong emphasis on timely assessment and intervention, aiming to reduce delays and provide clarity and support throughout the patient’s journey. Where appropriate, he incorporates innovative diagnostic tools and evidence-based advances in care, including novel non-invasive tests for assessment of suspected endometriosis. This allows earlier diagnostic insights and supports more informed decision-making.

Overall, Dr Polanski’s aim is to provide holistic, compassionate, and effective care that empowers patients, enhances their wellbeing, and ensures they feel fully supported throughout their treatment.

Dr Miriam Baumgarten

Dr Baumgarten is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with an international background in women’s health. She qualified in medicine at Leiden University in the Netherlands before completing her specialist training in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Fertility at Brussels University in Belgium. She is listed on the specialist registers in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

Having worked across multiple European healthcare systems, Dr Baumgarten brings a broad perspective to patient care and a deep understanding of differences in access to and delivery of services within the UK. She completed her PhD in the UK and remains actively involved in research, contributing to the advancement of women’s health. Her research interests encompass complications of early pregnancy, including hyperemesis gravidarum and ectopic pregnancies and research into mechanisms of heavy menstrual bleeding. Dr Baumgarten has over a decade of experience at Cambridge University Hospitals, where she is known for her compassionate, patient-centred approach.

Her clinical interests include:

  • Endometriosis and pelvic pain,
  • Gynaecological endocrinology including menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency, PCOS and management of premenstrual syndrome
  • Trauma-informed care, understanding how past trauma affects the care you need
  • Gender-inclusive care

Dr Baumgarten is committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care in a supportive and respectful environment, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health.

For her exceptional care and support of families experiencing pregnancy loss and pregnancy complications, in April 2026, she was awarded the ‘OBGYN of The Year’ by Mariposa International and The Saying Goodbye Foundation.

Dr Ayshini Samarasinghe

Ms Ayshini Samarasinghe is a highly skilled and compassionate gynaecologist dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centred care across all aspects of women’s health. She qualified from Imperial College London and has completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within the East of England. She is a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG).

Ms Samarasinghe adopts a holistic approach to women’s healthcare, recognising the importance of addressing physical, hormonal, and emotional wellbeing together. She is committed to empowering women through education, clear communication, and personalised, evidence-based care.

Her clinical expertise encompasses both general and specialist gynaecology, with particular interests in:

  • Minimal access (laparoscopic) and open gynaecological surgery
  • Reproductive medicine and fertility-related conditions
  • Recurrent Miscarriage
  • Endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain
  • Gynaecological endocrinology, including PCOS and premature ovarian insufficiency
  • Vulval health
  • Colposcopy and cervical screening

She has extensive experience in managing a wide range of gynaecological concerns, including menstrual dysfunction, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), post-coital bleeding, cervical screening abnormalities, and recurrent pregnancy loss. Her approach focuses on accurate diagnosis and tailored treatment plans to optimise long-term health and quality of life.

Ms Samarasinghe is also the Colposcopy Lead at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, where she oversees service quality, clinical governance, and training. In this role, she plays a key part in maintaining high standards of care and supporting multidisciplinary team development.

Combining clinical expertise with a warm and holistic philosophy, Ms Samarasinghe ensures that every patient feels listened to, respected, and supported throughout their healthcare journey.
